Do you have all you need to prioritize and organize your time? Check out our checklist of items to help your life run smoother.

Pen/Writing Utensil:
Some of you are thinking, but I use my calendar and scheduling app on my phone. That’s great! Write it down anyway. There is no right or wrong way to organize or schedule your time, but it is a fact that writing things down helps you remember. It is also so much easier to write a list of everything you need to get done, separate list items into categories and then organize them in order of priority. All of that is so much harder to do on an app. It can be done, but the physical action of writing your list down will help you remember better. So start you list off with a writing utensil of some kind. Mix it up and make it a bright color, or color code your items, or don’t. It’s up to you, but you can always make it fun.

Notepad/Stationery/Paper:
Second thing you need is some type of paper. Whether it be a composition notebook, to-do-list stationery pad, a receipt if you are on the move, just something. I know I forget half the things I need to do in the day if I keep a running list in my head, sometimes I have large tasks that have multiple little steps, and it is so much easier to remember and think of all the things you need to accomplish once you have pulled an item out of your mind and put it on the list to read later, allowing you to think of more tasks.

App/Planner/Calendar:
Here is the next part put is somewhere you look often. Desk calendar, in your planner, or type it into your app. The important thing to do in this step is to assign time or at least estimate times to each task. Appointing a time limit, estimate time, and scheduling concrete times help you arrange your time to fit your checklists so you can get everything you need to get done, done.

Reflect:
Finally, at the end of the day, don’t forget to look over your list and take a look at the things you accomplished. If it is not the whole list, was every priority task finished? Did you get more than you thought accomplished? Are you more ready for tomorrow because of what you accomplished today? What needs to be done, or could be better done to make tomorrow easier? Reflection is so important to the continuation of time management. Organizing your time and life is not something that happens over night, or just something you can excel the first time you try, it is a lifelong skill and can constantly be improved.
